2nd Eleven go down 1-0 to U’s
The reserves started their Totesport.com Combination Reserve League with a 1-0 defeat in Essex, the Golden boys boasted a team filled with experience and youth. There were several players with first team experience including Bennett, Jenkins, Henderson and new signings Aldred and Deeney.
The solitary goal came from ex-Barnsley striker Kayode Odejayi, the big striker who made his name scoring against Chelsea in the FA Cup scored in the 22 minutes.
The Golden boys pressed Colchester with the strong forward line of Liam Henderson Troy Deeney with Ross Jenkins and Michael Bryan sat behind the front two in midfield. Despite the pressure the Horns put on Colchester’s defence they were unable to equalize.
The reserves next game will be against league newcomers against Oxford United on Wednesday 22 September, their first home game will be on Monday 25th October against Southend - A big change from the reserves playing every Tuesday night.
With a bit of luck the next game will bring a win and some shooting practice.
Be lucky … keep smiling
