The Hornets are in third place just three points off the top two but with a game in hand on both side's.
"I know it's irritating for fans, because nobody seems to want to win it," Boothroyd told Sky Sports after the game against Stoke.
"We're exactly the same, but our fans were terrific and kept right behind us.
"Before this week, I called it the mother of all weeks. But it's ended up being the grandmother of all weeks, because we've not scored.
"But we kept two clean sheets and with the two penalty misses, we can consider ourselves unfortunate not to take six points."
