"He did very well," Boothroyd said after the 1-0 win at Vicarage Road.
"He is a better player than when he was with us previously. He's added bits to his game, he seems more confident and also, which I think is more important, he's more disciplined in his performance.
"He's not quite there yet but he is getting there and that is the whole idea of players coming on loan, so they can develop."
On the game Boothroyd commented: "It is a win, three points and three points on the road we want to get to.
"We ground the opposition down and in the end we were the fittest team."
