"This is just another brick in the wall we are trying to build but we are moving in the right direction," Boothroyd said after the 3-0 win against The Potters.
"We played well the first 20 minutes but were desperate for the half-time whistle because Stoke came on strong.
"But we have again showed that we are a good counter-attacking team and the fact our goals are being spread around is a healthy sign."
