Boothroyd Rules Out New Assistant

Suggestions were that the Watford boss would be looking to appoint an assistant during the close-season to replace the now departed Keith Burkinshaw who left Vicarage Road in December.

"Keith Burkinshaw was terrific for me," Boothroyd said on Three Counties Radio.

"As time went on his role became less and I was the one making the decisions, both good and bad.

"The bottom line is I'm the manager. I'll live and die on my own two feet.

"My opinion is that I can get someone in to hold my hand and to cry on their shoulder.

"But I've thought a great deal about this and taken advice from the person I consider to be the best in the world."
