Burnley recovered from two goals down to stage a late fightback and snatch a draw against Watford at Turf Moor.
A Craig Forsyth effort on half-time and a 70th minute strike from Mark Yeates looked to have secured all three points for Sean Dyche in his first game as Watford boss.
But Charlie Austin and Keith Treacy struck late on to ensure the points were shared in the Championship clash
The Hornets proved there is life after Danny Graham when Craig Forsyth benefited from the lively Marvin Sordell's cross to header home from close range on the cusp of the break..
Watford were impressive throughout the game and Mark Yeates doubled their lead by finding all the time in the world to blast into the top corner.
But the Clarets stunned the visitors with a late assault.
Eddie Howe's side pulled one back 13 minutes from time when substitute Charlie Austin pounced on a loose Keith Treacy ball in the box to give the hosts hope.
And the creator tuned goal scorer six minutes from time, nodding home Ross Wallace's cross from close range to send the home fans into delirium.
Burnley started the brighter of the two teams but some wasteful finishing early on from Dean Marney and Jay Rodriguez set the tone for the Clarets attack.
And it was Watford with their first chance of the match that nearly took the lead, with Sordell firing just wide inside the box following a scramble from a free-kick after 25 minutes.
And nine minutes later it was Sordell again who provided the visitors' threat, after his deflected shot forced a fine reaction save from Lee Grant.
Eddie Howe made a change at half-time, replacing Martin Paterson with Austin.
And the striker sparked to life in the 55th minute firing wide form the edge of the box, with Rodriguez following suit a minute later when blasting over inside the area.
Watford continued to have the edge in attack though and had chances to double their lead with Yeates going close and John Eustace having an effort cleared off the line.
But after pulling a goal back, Howe's side sensed an opportunity to take something from the game and just a minute after Austin's strike, Keith Treacy forced a save from Loach before netting his equaliser.
Carl Dickinson nearly restored the Hornets advantage two minutes from time but could only fire wide from outside the box, leaving Watford ruing a missed opportunity to open the season in style.
