Burnley have submitted an application for their upcoming Premier League meeting with Watford to be postponed.
The game was scheduled to be played on Tuesday 18th January at Turf Moor, and was set to be Burnley's first Premier League game since 2nd January.
A statement released by Burnley regarding the request reads:
"Burnley Football Club can confirm it has made an application to the Premier League for the postponement of Tuesday night’s match at home to Watford.
"The decision was reluctantly made to submit the application due to a high number of injuries and Covid-19 cases within the squad.
"The Premier League Board will meet later today to review the application and inform both clubs of its decision."
Premier League rules dictate that a match must be fulfilled if 13 outfield players and at least one goalkeeper are available for selection - it has not been confirmed by Burnley just how many players they currently have available.
