Watford fans who made the journey would've had the pleasure of seeing legends such as Andy Hessenthaler, Luther Blissett, Nigel Gibbs and Tommy Mooney play. Other ex-Hornets who were in the crowd showing their support but weren't able to play included Kenny Jackett, Steve Terry and Steve Sherwood.
The Golden Boys went 1-0 when Paul Devlin scored, Nigel Callaghan then scored an equalizing penalty. Bruce Dyer put Watford 2-1 up before Cliff Johnson equalized. Cliff had paid for the opportunity to take part in the match.
