Newcastle United remain in talks with Watford over a deal for Brazilian forward Joao Pedro, 90min understands, but potentially face competition from other Premier League clubs.
Sources have informed 90min that Newcastle are confident of finalising a deal, although the two clubs are yet to agree terms. Watford had originally been asking for £35m, and Newcastle thus far have only made an offer worth up to £30m including add-ons.
Even with nothing agreed, Newcastle believe a deal is possible and it is understood that the player himself is keen on making the move to Tyneside - he has also made his feelings known to the club.
Newcastle have told Watford that they feel the offer is fair. They are unlikely to make much of an increase on their current bid and are hoping the Championship club will ultimately relent.
However, sources close to Watford have told 90min that a number of Premier League rivals have made contact with the the Hornets. One of those clubs is believed to be Everton, but it is believed Wolves, Leicester, Nottingham Forest and Leeds have also been keeping tabs on the situation.
