Midfielder joins Northampton

Australian international Johnson has made over 250 appearances for the Hornets but has been unable to command a regular place in the side this season since returning from a lengthy absence due to injury.

"I see Richard as a very competitive midfield player, said Cobblers manager Terry Fenwick.

"He is a good passer of the ball and gets round the park very well."
