Watford have officially confirmed the signing of Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko, with the Frenchman signing a two-year contract.
The 32-year-old has spent the past five seasons at White Hart Lane, having arrived from Newcastle United for a fee of £30m in 2016. However, he has become more of a squad player over the past two years and Spurs are now open to his departure this summer.
Watford have now confirmed the deal, with their statement revealing: "The Hornets are delighted to announce the signing of vastly experienced France international Moussa Sissoko from Tottenham Hotspur.
"Sissoko, who has 70 international caps and 259 Premier League appearances to his name, has agreed a two-year contract with Watford and is available for Sunday’s meeting with former club Spurs.
"Sissoko will wear squad number 19."
Tottenham added: "We wish Moussa all the best for the future."
Watford are aiming to avoid relegation on their return to the Premier League this season, and will see Sissoko as a valuable addition to the squad. The midfielder brings plenty of energy and experience to a side that is currently short of strength in the centre of the pitch.
He has suffered relegation to the Championship once in his career with Newcastle United, but he bagged a move to Spurs off the back of a stellar Euro 2016 campaign.
Sissoko has been an excellent servant to the north London club over the past half-decade after initially failing to impress in his debut season. His arrival at Watford may also see the departure of star midfielder Will Hughes, who looks set to leave the club after failing to agree to a new contract at Vicarage Road.
The 26-year-old's deal expires at the end of the season and he has been forced to train with the Under-23s, having refused to agree to the terms offered on a new contract. Hughes is close to completing a move to Crystal Palace, bringing his time at Watford to a close.
