The Golden Boys prepare for a Royal Visit

Last updated : 07 March 2006 By Dan Goldstone

Both the Royals and the Golden Boys have enjoyed good seasons so far, and each team will want to get one over the other when they meet this coming weekend at the Royals’ impressive looking Madjeski Stadium.

Reading have really set the Championship alight this season, and are a good footballing side, especially at home where they have plundered an eye catching 47 league goals, 7 more than anyone else, Luton Town come second having fired in a creditable 40 at Kenilworth Road.

The Berkshire high fliers have won every match at home apart from two this season, Plymouth Argyle on the opening day (1-2) and Leeds United in October (1-1), and Watford will be looking to add to the Royals losses column this Saturday.

The Golden Boys though, are not bad at all away from home, having only lost three times, and Aidy Boothroyd’s attack minded side has netted 31 goals on their travels, the second most in the division. Indeed, Watford has lost fewer games on the road than at home, and this could be due to the free flowing football that can be played on better pitches away from the Vicarage Road mud bath.

This game has all the ingredients to be an engrossing encounter, and with Watford having sold out their entire ticket allocation for the match it should ensure an electric atmosphere on Saturday.

Hopefully you will be there to join us, but if not we will be providing a match report soon after the game so you can catch up with all the action.
