Taylor, 31, told BBC Three Counties Radio: "You enjoy being up there, it's a different sort of pressure.
"You go into a game thinking 'we need to win this game to be in the play-offs rather than staying out of the relegation spots'."
He added: "It's a nice pressure and we want that back. We're not far off, there's a lot of teams in there and we know we want to go on a good run of form."

After an impressive start to the season Malky Mackay's men have gone off the boil, failing to find a win since the 2-1 home victory over Ipswich on 19 October.
They have lost four of their last five outings and have suffered back-to-back 3-2 defeats to Burnley and Crystal Palace.
"There's nothing major, there's been a couple of games where we haven't done ourselves proud," said Taylor, who has been an ever present in the league this season.
"The last week we've had two away games where we've been 2-1 up and comfortable but ended up losing 3-2.
"We need to address those problems. We're conceding too many goals at the minute.
"But the last three games especially we've been playing well and we'll take belief from that."
Watford's poor form has coincided with the loss of winger Don Cowie, who featured for the first time in a month at the weekend after damaging knee ligaments.
It was a goalscoring return for the 27-year-old Scot, who has been integral to the Hornets' success this term.
"Don's fantastic, he's done a great job for us, he's gifted on the ball but does such a good job off it as well," said Taylor.
"He is a big miss and I think he's shown that a little bit - full credit to him.
"Saturday at Burnley he did really well, got his goal, and worked really hard for the team."
Watford host Reading this weekend, knowing victory would see them leapfrog the Royals in the table.
