Watford V Charlton at Vicarage Road Stadium - Match Preview

Hall hoping to be fit

Fitz Hall is a major doubt for Watford ahead of their New Year's Day clash with Charlton.

The defender limped off after 42 minutes of the 3-1 win at Brighton on Saturday with a hamstring knock.

Although manager Gianfranco Zola confirmed the injury is not a long-term problem, Hall faces a race against time to prove his fitness for their second game in four days.

Udinese loanee Neuton filled in for the former QPR man against the Seagulls, and he is a strong candidate to earn a starting place should Hall be ruled out.

Marco Cassetti is another option open to Zola on his return from a one-match suspension, but Lloyd Doyley (calf) continues to miss out.

Striker Fernando Forestieri made the bench at the Amex Stadium on his return from a hamstring problem, but he is unlikely to dislodge in-form forward pair Troy Deeney and Matej Vydra.

Charlton are without Danny Haynes and Michael Morrison for the New Year's Day trip.

Striker Haynes pulled a hamstring against Derby at the weekend, 16 minutes after he had given the Addicks the lead with a stunning goal.

Defender Morrison was dismissed during the 1-1 draw after picking up two cautions and serves a one-match ban.

The point saw an end to Charlton's three-match losing run but Chris Powell's side remain without a win since November.

Striker Ricardo Fuller was named on the bench after a hamstring problem but could make a return to the line-up.

On-loan midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong was left out completely against the Rams and his loan spell will end following the game at Vicarage Road.

Rhoys Wiggins (foot), Andy Hughes (Achilles) and Ade Azeez (hamstring) all remain sidelined.
