Watford, looking to move off the bottom of the Premiership are boosted by the return of veteran Chris Powell who missed the trip to Manchester City on Monday, and are also likely to recall Matthew Spring in place of the suspended Gavin Mahon.
Mahon, 29, has been in inspiration form lately but is unavailable for the clash after picking up five yellow cards this term, and joins long term injury victims Ben Foster, Marlon King and Clarke Carlisle on the sidelines.
Reading make the short journey from Berkshire sweating on the fitness of defender, Graeme Murty (bruised toe) and forward Stephen Hunt (hamstring), while the unlucky Dave Kitson is a definite non-starter after having his appendix removed in midweek.
