Chris Foy Refs Portsmouth Game

Last updated : 16 November 2006 By Gary Holmes

Known for his leniency, the 43-year-old has taken charge of seven Premiership games so far this season without sending a player off, although he has brandished 12 yellow cards.

The merry whistle blower has not taken charge of any fixture involving Watford either this campaign or last, although he has had the pleasure of officiating in two of Portsmouth matches this season already.

Foy presided over Pompey's stunning four goal televised success at Middlesbrough at the end of August, and again during their ‘in front of the cameras' odd goal in three defeat away to Tottenham Hotspur at the beginning of October.

The Merseyside born official is well known on the Premiership circuit having being elected to the Select Group of referee's in 2001.

Foy began refereeing in 1983 and progressed to the national list of referees in 1996 before further progression saw him promoted to the Premier League list.

Amongst a number of high profile top flight matches, Foy worked as Fourth Official for the England v Italy friendly at Elland Road in 2002 and the FA Trophy Final in 2001.

Mr. Foy will be joined by Mr. A.Garratt and Mr. M. Scholes as his assistants at Fratton Park at the weekend.
