Traditionally Bramall Lane hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for Watford but Saturday that changed, Sordell scored in the 16th minute when Lloyd Doyley passed to Danny Graham who broke down the right and crossed for the on-form youngster to tap in.
Up until the goal it had been all Sheffield United, the home side dominated but weren’t able to capitalize on the pressure. The goal knocked United’s confidence but it wasn’t long before they were pressing Watford’s defence again but struggled to find the back of the net. It’s the same story for Gary Speed’s side this season who have only scored five times all season whereas visitors Watford have netted 21 times.
In the second half the Yorkshire side had numerous opportunities, the best fell to Daniel Bogdanovic who managed to fail to score with a free header. It was another clean sheet for the ever impressive Scott Loach; Malky Mackay will be keen to fend off any transfer bids for the highly regarded keeper in January.
An excellent three points for Watford, their next game is against Portsmouth away after the International break.
