Arsenal Res 1 Watford Res 1

A second half strike by 17-year-old Alex Campana earned Watford's reserves a deserved point at third placed Arsenal last night.

Fielding a youthful line-up, Gary Smith's boys took the game to their more illustrious hosts and were almost rewarded when Theo Robinson was put clean through, but Gunners' goalkeeper Vito Mannone was quickly off his line to avert the danger.

The visitor's were displaying a confidence born out of successive victories and their approach play soon fashioned another chance for Robinson, whose header struck wood with Mannone beaten.

The home side unsurprisingly upped the tempo at the beginning of the second half although it was Watford who snatched the lead in the 75th minute, Campana unleashing a low 25 yard shot that flew past Mannone and went in off his right hand upright.

This promoted an almost immediate response by the hosts who levelled when Danish danger man Nicklas Bendtner raced onto Seb Larsson's pass before rifling home past young Lincoln City triallist, Scott Loach.

Still a good all round performance for the second string who can take plenty of plusses after remaining unbeaten in three games ahead of a home fixture with West Ham United this coming Wednesday at Boreham Wood FC, Kick-off 7pm.
